Five Months

In March Lucy celebrated her five-month birthday, which happened to fall on her first St. Patrick’s Day. (It was a busy photo day in the Flinn household—at least three costume changes.)

Because the end of February brought more-than-expected amounts of snow to Raleigh, we enjoyed a few snow days together.

Lucy’s Pop-Pop and Aunt Christine came to visit in February, too, and everyone’s amazed with how much she’s grown.

Lucy’s fine motor skills are improving every day, and now when we play with her animal flashcards she grabs them and studies intently.

She even gave Daddy a hand with some grading at the dining room table!

And every once in a while we can even get her to smile for the camera.

Four Months

This month Lucy celebrated her first Valentine’s Day and her four-month birthday in style. She’s 13 pounds, 2 ounces and 2 feet long!

She’s still not sure about her Bumbo, but she sits contently in it for at least a few minutes each day.

After Lucy’s first snow, actually more of a rain/snow mix (she didn’t make it outside) Lucy took her first trip to the beach as we spent a few days at Carolina Beach. While the ocean air was a bit chilly for her tastes, she enjoyed seeing sharks, jellyfish, and turtles up close and personal at the NC Aquarium.

Three Months

At three months, Lucy has discovered her hands and feet, and likes chewing on the former and staring at the latter. She loves to smile (especially in the morning) but also has a serious, focused side (especially when looking at flashcards or listening to a story).
Her duality also appears in her chattiness–sometimes she’ll ramble on and on for hours, but she knows when it’s time to be quiet (like bedtime and at church).

Lucy proudly wore her script Ohio onesie and celebrated Ohio State’s national championship victory over Oregon. Since her birth in October, the Buckeyes haven’t lost a single game!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Lucy celebrated her first Christmas at home surrounded by her Grandma and Grandpa Flinn, Mimi and Pop-Pop Perkins, and Aunt Christine and Josh. She had a number of costume changes and made her first visit to St. Raphael Church for Christmas mass.

Lucy joined some of her neighbors for a New Years get-together, but she didn’t make it to midnight (nobody in the family did). She did, however, watch the Ohio State Buckeyes the next night in the Sugar Bowl!

Lucy took her first Christmas very seriously.

Santa’s little sweetheart was all worn out from the day’s festivities. Yes, those are Santa socks on her hands (she can work her way out of any pair of mittens).

Two Months

Today Lucy celebrates her two-month birthday. She is beginning to find her voice and can flail her arms and kick her legs with the best of them. As her depth of vision grows, she follows objects with her eyes and can even mimic facial gestures. She now weighs 10 pounds, 3 ounces.

Santa, Baby

Lucy took her first trip outside of Raleigh this weekend as we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Flinn in New Bern. While we were there, Lucy met Santa in Bear Plaza, and while she wasn’t scared, she wasn’t overly impressed, either. (She seemed to like the bright Christmas lights more than anything!)

One Month

Exactly one month after her arrival, Lucy poses for a picture with a pachyderm pal. Although she spends most of her days sleeping, when she’s awake she enjoys her ABCs, the work of Dr. Seuss, and of course, feeding. She now weighs 8 pounds, 8 ounces.
